Candace Cameron Bure shares heartbreaking reason why she deleted bikini photo fuelling important discussion

Over the weekend, Candace Cameron Bure posted an incredibly stylish swimsuit photo on Instagram.

However, mere hours later, the Full House star's photo was conspicuously absent.

Bure, 49, removed the image, leaving fans speculating about her decision to retract the display of her remarkable physique.

After all, the Los Angeles-born actress has diligently worked over the years to cultivate her body confidence, having previously opened up about her struggles with self-image.

In a heartfelt moment on her well-loved podcast back in July, she became emotional as she shared with her audience: "If someone is listening to this, and they’re saying like, 'I know this, like God revealed this to me, and I understand…

"I’ve laid the groundwork, but I’m still deeply saddened by where my body is at, or I’m going through menopause and my whole body has transformed."

Bure further expressed: "So, how do I begin to reconcile living in that freedom that I know to be true, yet still feel dissatisfied with my body?"

Her revelation came 15 years after she disclosed in her 2010 memoir, Reshaping It All, her past battle with bulimia as a young girl, and she recently admitted on her podcast to having been constantly 'binging and purging'.

Confessing during the episode, she acknowledged still battling an eating disorder 'because the thoughts — whether I’m acting on them or not — never leave me', adding: "So I still need the tools to just say, 'No, Candace, we’re not doing that'."

Regrettably, the former The View host's journey to body confidence seemed to have been marred over the weekend.

After being flooded with inquiries about her missing beachside picture, Bure finally explained her reasoning, making a poignant admission about the trolling she'd encountered.

Taking to her Instagram Story the following day (6 September), she wrote: "Yes. I was at the beach. I was in a one-piece, not a bikini."

In the caption of a lovely photograph of the star wearing a lemon yellow midi-dress, Bure revealed she'd been subjected to extensive shaming by online critics.

"I am soaking up the end of summer," she continued. "I was enjoying myself. It wasn’t about my swimsuit or my body.

"But the comments became inundated with people discussing my body."

The actress sadly concluded her confession with: "It wasn’t worth it. I took it down."

Bure's comments have since sparked an important dialogue among fans, many of whom criticized internet users for not considering that celebrities have feelings too.

"Let's not judge their bodies, unless someone asks for your opinion, then keep it to yourself," one urged in the comments of her latest post.

Another added: "How about we stop commenting on other people's bodies?"
